Riches in the Word

The bible contains great riches for those of us who are willing to read it and allow God's teaching to permeate our hearts.  God's teaching renews are minds (get's us out of bad thinking), increases faith and encourages us to develop a closer relationship with Him.  If we choose to neglect to seek the Lord, we will always be spiritually hungry and never satisfied.

The key is to meditate on Scripture.  Go slow and take your time to allow the word to work in you.  There is treasure in making this practice a part of you daily routine.

"How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he mediates day and night.  He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.  The wicked are not so but they are like chaff which the wind drives away."  Psalm 1:1-4

Godly Success

To humans belongs the plans of the heart, but for the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.  All a person's ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord.  Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.  Proverbs 16:1-3

Many people define success as the achievement of fame, wealth and prominence.  Success God's way is much different.

The first step to true Godly success is to establish a relationship with Jesus.  The goal for us is to grow and develop a personal relationship with Him.  Jesus wants us to mature spiritually.  We have been blessed with spiritual talents and gifts that we are to use to glorify Him.  True success involves doing what God has called us to do.  When we find our true calling and we commit ourselves to that task, God is committed to help us succeed.  We become the person He designed us to be.  What joy it will be to see ourselves equipped and motivated to fulfill God's purpose in our lives.

"Success is discovering the will of God for your life and following it."

Living Worry Free

"Do not fret - it only causes harm."  Psalm 37:8

When there is so much negativity all around us and life takes an unexpected turn, our first reaction is to worry and fret about the situation.  Uncertainty will come our way.  It's just part of life.  It's how we handle it that defines us.  We need to remember to look towards God for guidance.  We cannot let negative forces cause us to live in worry or anger.  We need to let go and let God (handle the situation).

"Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.  Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart."  Psalm 37:3-4

Lord, we know we will always have worries in our lives.  We ask that you surface the worries so that we can share them with you and turn them over to you.

Bridle Your Tongue - Anger

If anyone among you thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.
James 1:26

Sometimes I catch myself regretting my words.  Especially when I say things in anger.  I think we need to heed the warnings of an unbridled tongue.  It can lead to harsh words, explosive tempers and unkind actions.

It’s okay to be angry, but we are to be “slow to wrath.”  Let’s not allow our answer to grow, turn into hate or hold grudges.

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.  James 1:19-20

A Broken Spirit

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You know my path.
Psalm 142:3

Disappointment is an unexpected detour in life.  It can leave you with no strength and no will for the journey.  Maybe you're overwhelmed with sadness today.  Maybe you are suffering from a lost love.  Whatever you are going through today, remember that God knows the path you are taking long before you were called to experience it.  You might wonder why God would have us walk through such troubles.  Why does he not allow us to walk the easier path?

God knows the best path to bring us to completion.  It is during these difficult times when we learn from the experience and grow.  His ways are higher than our ways.  We can humbly take the path God has marked for us and do it in absolute trust in His wisdom and love.  It's comforting to know that during these times, God is with us.  He will not lead us astray.

Cry of Help

I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in Your Word.
Psalm 119:147

It's difficult to watch someone that you love who is hurting and in pain.  Life has been unexpected drama in our home. Sadly, I've been overwhelmed and worried.  I've spent sleepless nights staring at the ceiling instead of sleeping.  It is during these difficult times that I sometimes take the focus off God and focus on our problems.

Tonight I'm meditating on Psalm 119:147 and desparately searching for other comforting scripture. Tonight is a night to review God's Word over and over in my mind.  I'll concentrate on Scripture rather than focusing my concern on the problem that I have no control over.

When worry wakes you up, remember my friends, "The Word of God is living and powerful" Hebrews 4:12. Select a passage and mediate on it.  Our cares cannot compete with God's Word.  God is the only one who can still our hearts and quiet our minds.

Dear Friends, if you would like to share some encouraging scripture, feel free to share them on this site.

Blessings!

Pray without Ceasing

Pray without ceasing.
1 Thessalonians 5:17

Lord knows I need to pray without ceasing.  So much drama has been boiling up in our family lately.  I guess it's no surprise when you have a teenager in the house.   To "pray without ceasing" does not mean praying without stopping or praying all day long.  I believe it means to adopt an attitude of uninterrupted personal relationship with God.  To have an awareness of His presence throughout the day.  We must be ready to apply God to all aspects of our lives.  Wherever we are and whatever we're are doing, God wants to be part of our every day lives.  Let's remember to take God with us the moment we wake each morning.  Always keep the prayer lines open!  Be blessed today!
