Proverbs 31:15

She rises while it is yet night and gets food for her household and assigns her maids their tasks.” Proverbs 31:15

Do you plan your day?  If you don’t, it would be helpful if you start planning.  Prepare a schedule and try to be disciplined about following it.  Once we have a clear direction, it would be less stressful in your day-to-day life.

Most of us don’t have maids. It would be nice if we did.  We can enlist the help of our children or husbands.  It is important that we take charge of our lives.  Don’t allow life to manage you.

Things to think about:

- Are you an early riser?  What tasks can you implement early in the morning before the rest of the household rises in the morning.

- Are you a night owl? (I am.) What can you do late at night to prepare for the next day?

Proverbs 31:14

"She is like the merchant ships loaded with foodstuffs, she brings her household's food from afar."  Proverbs 31:14

I know how difficult it is to feed a family.  The Proverbs 31 woman will find ways to be creative.  Go the extra mile to make a good, healthy and pleasing meals.  I find great recipes online. My favorite site is allrecipes.com where they actually rate their dishes.  Include your children in the preparing and cooking process.  Make it a fun and a memorable time.

Take time to make dinner time with family a special time.  Your family will thank you for it!

Things to think about:

-  What can you do be more creative with your daily meals?

Proverbs 31:13

“She seeks out wool and flax and works with willing hands.” Proverbs 31:13

The Proverbs woman keeps busy.  All that she does is for her family and she does it enthusiastically.  These tasks are her ministry.  Her work is not drudgery and she does not complain.  She knows that her skill and creativity is not done in vain.  All her efforts and hard work is for family.  She knows that God smiles upon her as she does her work without complaining.

Things to think about:

- When you are in the middle of doing your chores, do you think about how much you are honoring God and your family?

Take inventory on yourself and ask these questions. Think about ways you can change your attitude when doing chores and daily housework.

Proverbs 31:12

“She comforts, encourages, and does him only good as long as there is life within her.” Proverbs 31:12

How often do you encourage and comfort your husband?  As you continue on this Proverbs journey, be mindful about the kind of words that come from your mouth.  Are they words of encouragement and uplifting or criticizing and nagging?   Look at your husband and see those wonderful traits that you love about him and tell him.  It will be a joy, not only for your husband, but for you also.

Be your husband’s cheerleader.  Think about the words that come out of your mouth when you speak to him.  Are your encouraging or discouraging?

Things to think about:

- When was the last time you complimented your husband?

- When words come out of your mouth, are they words of praising or tearing down?

- Would you say you are an encouragement or discouragement to others?

Take inventory on yourself and ask yourself these questions. Think about ways you can change your words to positive and encouraging words. Think of how you can be a blessing to those around you.

Proverbs 31:11

“The heart of her husband trusts in her confidently and relies on and believes in her securely, so that he has no lack of gain or need.” Proverbs 31:11

Her husband has much confidence and trust in her.  Trust is what keeps a marriage together.  Unfortunately, our society today lacks these qualities.  When we trust our husbands and they in turn trust us, it increases our confidence level.  He does not lack for things (or someone else).  She brings him security, peace and rest to his soul.
Things to think about:

- Does your husband confidently relies and trust you?

- If not why?

- Read 2 Corinthians 3:18.  Read God’s word daily and pray for a transformation into being the kind of woman God intended for you to be.

Proverbs 31:10

"Who can find a virtuous woman?  For her price is far above rubies."  Proverbs 31:10

From the very start this woman is praised. She is valued and respected above anything else. She is capable and intelligent. Her husband values her and praises her because she praises him. She is a rare find and should be appreciated and respected. God makes it very clear how important our role as a woman can be.

Think of the Proverbs 31 woman as a role model. Think of her as a goal to strive for. A woman that God will help you strive to become if you trust Him and if you are willing to change.

Things to think about:

- How do you treat your husband?

- When words come out of your mouth, are they words of praising or tearing down?

- Would you say you are an encouragement or discouragement to others?

Take inventory on yourself and ask yourself these questions. Think about ways you can change your words to positive and encouraging words. Think of how you can be a blessing to those around you.

Why am I afraid?

For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.  Isaiah 41:13

In the past, this bible verse always brought me comfort.  Unfortunately I have not been feeling or believing what it says.  I'm not proud to admit that.  I have been feeling afraid.  Afraid of everything.  I have no confidence in my abilities at work, as a wife, as a mother or as a friend.  What's going on with me?  I often asked God as I read Isaiah 41:13, "Why aren't you helping me?"

Months passed and the fear continued to dwell within me and God had been silent.  But today I received an answer.  As the words, "...who takes hold of your right hand..." went through my mind I realized that God has only been waiting for me to extend my hand to Him before He takes hold of it. God is a gentleman and waits patiently for us to approach Him.  Do you ever start living your life without giving any thought to God's direction or leading or even asking Him for guidance?  That is what I was doing.  I stopped my daily devotions and my daily bible readings because I've been too busy.  Maybe that's just an excuse.  Maybe I've been trying to live my own life and not allow God to do the leading.

If you are feeling afraid, open up your bible and read scripture on fear.  Place God back in the forefront of your life and don't make excuses to not spend time with Him daily.  How easy it is for us to get caught up in the world and walk ahead of God instead of allowing Him to lead the way.

Look up these verses on fear:
Psalm 56:4
1 John 4:18
Matthew 10:31
Isaiah 54:4
